What's all the fluff about?
FLUFFYBUG was born out of my love forknitting and the joy it brings me
to be creative.
I had knitted as a
pastime for some
years, but didn’t want to keep using
existing knitting
patterns. Instead I felt inspired to invent my own designs.

I had recently developed a knitted cleaning cloths to dust off my ukulele which featured a sound hole as homage to the instrument. My latest creation was a knitted small bag which I had used to store my favourite jewellery and I wondered whether the sound hole idea could be repurposed to create a different design for these bags based on nature.
That was the start of FLUFFYBUG
as the sound hole
became a hole in the
earth
through which all
sorts of bugs
emerged.
At first the
caterpillar poked
its antennae out
of the hole.
The spider on
its thread and the
snail carrying its house
followed.
Finally,
the butterfly flew out of the hole
and towards a
beautiful flower.

“Why bugs?” I hear you ask.
Simply because I think
creepy-crawlies are
underrepresented in the design world.
I was fascinated by Sir David Attenborough's "Life in the Undergrowth" - a documentary featuring an array of invertebrates and I'd like to raise awareness for their importance
for the planet
and take away some of the ugliness
we associate with
bugs, worms or spiders by letting them
appear fluffy and cute.
Hopefully it will make them
less frightening next time you
encounter one in
real life.
